It’s almost the end of September but it’s been super hot, the weather hasn’t changed since the mid summer. A lot of fish seem to have gone down deeper and it’s been under a bit difficult conditions for fishing. I wanted to catch a variety of fish this day but ended up catching only several belt fish. In the early fall morning, targeting Shiro Amadai(White Tilefish) here in the east coast of Awaji. Shiro Amadai is known as one of the most expensive fish in a market. Back on my home water, we caught Buri, a big yellowtail. It’s a livebait fishing starting from collecting some small mackerel as baitfish and let them swim around the bottom to wait for the gib one to bite. Flew to Amami Island to go fishing in Tokara Islands which is an unexplored region in Kagoshima prefecture, chasing for some biggest greater amberjack. We were four people chartered the boat and took us 3.5 hrs on a boat to reach the spot, it was so tiring but worth it. Everyone caught its huge amberjack. We sent our fish back home and cooked Sushi. Summer is the best season for Tako, the octopus to catch and eat. People get crazy about fishing Tako from June to August especially here in the Kansai region. On my way back from Octopus catching, as for my son’s request that he wants to have a Takoyaki dinner, I noticed that there are still some livebait leftover from the previous trip. I visited a UNESCO Global Geopark for a Kayak camping. This is where I went fishing the other day with my friend for the first time, and caught orange spotted grouper which was really tasty. Introducing the legendary rig called Tai Rubber which has been used for more than 200 years by our local fishermen in Japan to catch Big Japanese Red Snapper. It’s built by mainly three parts, a sinker, a double hook and a rubber piece called a tie. It’s adoptable depending on the bait they are eating, like you would choose the orange tie when they are eating shrimp or anchovy, by the way, orange and red are the most standard color choice.
